Alex Hammah MPhil student

picAlex Hammah is an MPhil student in Mathematical and Computational Physics at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana, with a strong interest in applying mathematical principles, computational techniques, and scientific computing to solve complex real-world problems. Alex graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with high distinction in Mathematics, specialising in Applied Mathematics, in November 2023. Alex subsequently completed an MSc in Mathematical Engineering at the University of L’Aquila, Italy.

His academic interests are motivated by the potential of mathematics to address practical challenges in developing economies, particularly in natural resource management and sustainable development. Current research interests include physics-guided machine learning, predictive groundwater inflow forecasting, hydrogeological modelling, and digital twin frameworks for integrating physical processes with data-driven predictions that help explain complex systems, improve predictions, and support informed decision-making.

Previous academic work on automated attendance using facial recognition introduced Alex to the application of computational techniques and artificial intelligence in practical problem-solving. These interests continue to inform an evolving research direction that connects mathematical theory with scientific and engineering applications.

Alex aspires to pursue advanced research in mathematical and computational sciences, contribute to scientific innovation, and develop solutions to important technological and societal challenges in Ghana and beyond.
