MPhil (Solid State Physics)

Submitted by eiyamba on Tue, 08/03/2021 - 16:37

Course Overview

Ghana needs more scientists to move the nation forward since it has attained Lower Middle-Income Status. This status has its accompanied research and development. There is therefore the need to train well-qualified scientist, engineers and technologists to drive industrial and scientific development. This MPhil Programme in Physics seeks to solve this problem. Furthermore, it is now very difficult for workers to get study leave and come to study on campus for further studies. Employers do not give this opportunity to their employees. Leaving one’s job has also its accompanied problem. The MPhil Physics programme at Institute of Distance Learning will enable the participants to work full time and at the same time study for their MPhil degrees without any conflict.

Aims:

The objective of the MPhil degree in Solid State Physics is to build human capacity by training to produce skilled postgraduates with world standard qualities.

Objectives

  1. Teaching Physics in Secondary schools, Polytechnics and Training Colleges

  2. Doing research in Research institutes

  3. Working in electronic and related industries Coming out with energy efficient materials and systems

  4. Renewable energy
