Prof Aboagye Menyeh Supports AstroXMat Laboratory to Strenghen Astronomy Research and Training
The AstroXMat Research Laboratory at the Department of Physics, KNUST, has received astronomy textbooks from Prof. Aboagye Menyeh, a distinguished geophysicist and foundation Provost of the College of Science, to strengthen the laboratory’s academic resources and support its research, student learning and science outreach activities.
The books will strengthen the laboratory’s growing collection of astronomy resources and provide additional reference material for students and researchers working across the laboratory’s astronomy-related projects.
As AstroXMat continues to expand its activities in astronomy, astrophysics, instrumentation, computational science, and science communication, access to quality academic materials remains important for both training and research development.
The donation also supports the laboratory’s efforts to create an environment where students can deepen their knowledge beyond their immediate research topics. Such contributions help build the intellectual resources needed to sustain a vibrant and collaborative research community.
Dr. Linus Kweku Labik, who leads the AstroXMat Research Laboratory, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that Prof. Menyeh’s support represents an encouraging endorsement of the laboratory and the research being carried out within it.
He highlighted the importance of seeing senior academics within the College recognise and support the work of emerging research groups and young scientists.
The donated books will contribute meaningfully to the training of students, the development of research ideas, and the broader academic activities of AstroXMat.
