MCP Unit Students Pay Courtesy Call To IPO Vice Dean Upon Their Arrival and Departure

On Monday, September 29, 2025, five MPhil students who had returned from an exchange programme in Italy paid a courtesy call on Professor Esmeranda Manful, Vice Dean of the International Programmes Office (IPO). A few days later, on Thursday, October 2, another group preparing to embark on the next phase of the exchange met her for a pre-departure orientation. Both visits formed part of the administrative briefings for the ten-month exchange programme in Mathematical and Computational Physics at the University of L’Aquila, Italy. The students were accompanied by Dr. Henry Martin, Coordinator of the Mathematical and Computational Physics (MCP) Unit, and his deputy, Mr. Henry Elorm Quarshie.
During the first meeting, Professor Manful welcomed the returning students back to campus and commended them for representing KNUST with distinction. She urged them to translate the lessons and exposure gained abroad into innovative contributions within their fields of study.
At the pre-departure briefing with twelve students—comprising three (3) PhD and nine (9) MPhil candidates—Professor Manful congratulated them on their selection and praised the programme coordinator for his commitment to capacity building within the Department of Physics. She also offered guidance on travel safety, cultural adaptation, and the importance of upholding professionalism and excellence as ambassadors of KNUST. In addition, she outlined the relevant contacts and offices available for emergency and administrative support during their stay abroad.
The Department of Physics and the participating students expressed their gratitude to the University, partners, and sponsors for their invaluable support, and looked forward to sustained collaboration and academic exchange.
