Mark Paal PhD
I
am a PhD researcher in Mathematical and Computational Physics at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. My research focuses on the computational modelling of porous materials for water purification, combining Density Functional Theory (DFT) and machine learning to understand and optimise material performance for sustainable environmental applications. I hold an MPhil in Solid State Physics and a BSc in Physics, with prior research experience in thin film semiconductors, nanomaterials, and optical materials.
My future research interests include data-driven materials discovery, scalable modelling of water treatment and energy-related materials, and interdisciplinary collaborations that bridge computational physics, materials science, and sustainability challenges.
